It is important to take care of your skin after a microdermabrasion treatment.
Here are some tips for after care:
- Avoid sun exposure for at least 24 hours after treatment. Wear a sunscreen with SPF 50 or higher when going outdoors.
- Avoid using harsh cleansers, exfoliants like Alpha hydroxy acid, vitamin C or scrubs on your skin. They can be too abrasive and irritate the skin.
- Avoid hot baths, steam rooms, and saunas.
- Avoid activities that make you sweat a lot, such as strenuous exercise.
- Apply a moisturizer to your skin several times a day.
- Avoid picking or squeezing any pimples that may arise.
- Make up should not be applied for at least 24 hours after the procedure.
- Keep your hands off the treated skin.
- Change the pillow case.
- Avoid using any topical medications that may be irritating to your skin.
- Avoid going swimming in chlorinated water.
- Avoid waxing for at least 30 days after microdermabrasion.
- Avoid any activities that may cause skin irritation or inflammation.
*Facial redness after microdermabrasion is normal (the redness should fade in a few hours) and so is some itchiness and a mild sunburn sensation. (which can last up to two days afterwards).
